Mr Z. Haas stated:

Suchecki Jan has been killed in the night between 15th and 16th August 1944 at Jort, France. He had taken the place of lieutenant Wroblewski who was wounded at Saint-Sylvain. Lieutenant Suchecki was with his men in the center of Jort during the operations to cross the river Dives. We heard the sound of engines. There were SS troops in vihicles in the village. They had plenty gazoline in jerrycans and there existed a shooting party. In this battle Suchecki Jan was hit in the middle of the battle. We never knew who had touched him, the Germans or our troops? [more about Langannerie] [course of events]
