CRASH of WELLINGTON Z 1255

On 8.10.1942 at 22.47 hours Wellington Z 1255 was shot down by German Flak III Zug 4.Lei.Abt./845 during mine laying 3.5 km South of "De Kooy" on the Dutch coast. The aircraft crashed 1500 m South of the airbase "De Kooy" and 100 m. West of the railroad, the Netherlands.

Four crew members were killed. Their bodies were recovered on 10.10.1942. They were buried on 13.10.1942 at Huisduinen.

In the week of 21-28.5.1947 the graves were exhumed and transferred to the British War Cemetery at Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands
