"P. 783023. W/O CHUDEK, A. posted to Polish Air Force Depot wef. 23.6.1944
as N/E missing during operational Flight in Patrol Western, Eastern, Easy and
William areas.

P. 783023. W/O. CHUDEK. A. - MISSING.
Well known pilot in this Squadron did not return from operational flight over France
today, someone has been reported.

We wont not to belive in such miserable news, still hopping that is not true, because
it seems for us impossible that he would do that and not returned to us.
Here and there the boys of this Unit were standing and tolking about this great Pilot
of this Squadron.

Ten German aircrafts he destroyed - said someone.
Another one said - had been awarded D.F.M. for that. Oh! Everybody wonts him
returned to us, but it was impossibility, because he chosed five jerry to shot down
- himself.

He wanted to have done very hard wark before returning back from an operational flight.
Several times the C.O. of this Unit was connected with an Ops asking "Did he returned
back", the answer still was "not" - really it was bad to hard that.

Just before light was gone out, and the darkness came in the Squadron Headquarters
prepered the signal ti his wife to let her know that awfull, miserable news.

It was so hard even to put down a few sentences about that, but it was an order to do so
and it has been done like that:,

MRS. D. CHUDEK, 55, Cardinal Rd, EASTCOOTE, Middlesex.
REGRED TO INFORM YOU THAT YOUR HUSBAND W/O. ALEKSANDER CHUDEK
IS MISSING AS THE RESULT OF AIR OPERATIONS ON 23.6.1944. LETTER FOLLOWS.
ANY FURTHER INFORMATION RECEIVED WIIL BE IMMEDIATELY COMMUNICATED
TO YOU."
